Identt, which specializes in identity verification across Poland, is gearing up to integrate with mObywatel Europa, the nation's implementation of the EU digital identity wallet framework. The company enrolled in a test environment that became available on September 16, providing early access to Poland's wallet infrastructure.
The sandbox allows participating organizations to work with test identity credentials and a web-based verification tool using a prototype version of the wallet. This controlled setting enables companies to validate their integrations and surface any technical issues before the wallet launches to the general public.
Identt has a track record of testing against European digital identity demonstration wallets, though it has not yet disclosed findings from the Polish environment. Poland itself has previously taken part in broader European wallet pilots focused on banking and SIM card registration scenarios.
From document checks to wallet-based verification
Currently, Identt performs identity verification through document examination, facial recognition comparison, and liveness checks. The EUDI Wallet model will allow users to selectively share verified identity attributes—such as proof of age or driving authorization—without disclosing an entire identity document.
The company has not yet clarified when its customers might transition from traditional document-based checks to wallet-based credential sharing, nor whether additional facial recognition steps would apply in specific onboarding scenarios.
Identt already integrates with Poland's existing mObywatel mobile application, where users scan a QR code to authorize the sharing of identity information. The mObywatel Europa initiative represents a distinct effort to build a wallet compliant with EU digital identity standards.
The company maintains a partnership with Hopae, a platform that bridges identity verification services with national electronic identities and digital wallets. Identt has not indicated whether Hopae participates in the Polish sandbox tests.
EU timeline and Poland's progress
EU legislation mandates that all member states deploy at least one certified EUDI Wallet by December 24, 2026. Poland continues working toward certification of its wallet and the infrastructure needed to register relying parties—the organizations that will accept wallet credentials.
Identt intends to use the sandbox to validate technical specifications for two roles: relying parties that receive credentials from the wallet, and issuers of electronic attestations of attributes.
