Roleo, an Estonian HR tech startup, has secured €2.9 million in a funding round led by Baltic venture capital firm Practica Capital and Nordic investor Inventure. The round also drew backing from several notable angels, including Bolt founder and CEO Markus Villig, former Wise executive Henrik Bohman, Hedosophia's Chief Product Officer Kristina Lilleõis, and Sergei Anikin.
Co-founders Janer Gorohhov (CEO) and Vahur Hansen have built an AI-powered career agent designed to operate passively on behalf of users. The system learns individual professional backgrounds, ambitions, compensation requirements and job preferences, then continuously scans the European technology sector for matching roles. When suitable opportunities surface, the platform connects candidates directly with hiring managers, bypassing traditional job application processes.
How it works
The platform serves two distinct user groups: technology professionals access the service at no cost, while employers and hiring managers form the revenue-generating side of the business. Current users include professionals from Google, Amazon, Stripe and Spotify.
Roleo's AI engine processes hundreds of thousands of job opportunities weekly and typically presents the three most relevant options to each user. Since January 2026, the system has connected users with 30,000 opportunities they chose to explore further. Professionals retain full control over their visibility settings and personal data.
The problem being solved
Most professionals only actively manage their careers during crisis moments or when deliberately seeking a change, according to the startup's analysis. This passive approach means valuable opportunities regularly pass by qualified candidates who never encounter them. Identifying suitable roles typically demands constant attention to job boards, active networking and sustained professional visibility.
What investors are saying
We saw potential in the Roleo founders – their proven operational experience and grounded, yet very high ambition… we believe they are the team best positioned to set a new standard for how people build their careers.
Donatas Keras, Partner at Practica Capital
I've watched Janer build Veriff and I know what Vahur did at Wise. Both know first-hand how hard it is to find and hire great people across Europe.
Markus Villig, Bolt founder and CEO, angel investor
So much talent is missed because the best candidates aren't actively applying… Roleo fixes both sides of that: it brings people roles they'd never have found on their own, and brings employers candidates they'd never have reached.
Kristina Lilleõis, CPO at Hedosophia, angel investor
What's next
The funding will support further development of the AI career agent and geographic expansion across European markets, with initial focus on technology professionals and their employers.
According to Gorohhov, the vision is not to have artificial intelligence make career decisions for people, but rather to equip them with relevant information and opportunities at moments when such decisions matter. The company has now raised €3.46 million in total funding.
