Gaia-X AISBL has announced the addition of Legal Data Space (LDS) to its membership roster. The organisation specialises in establishing the legal framework for data spaces by offering three core capabilities: governance, compliance, and smart contracts. Through these services, LDS converts the contractual language governing data exchange into machine-readable and enforceable specifications, enabling participants to share information with confidence that the underlying rules remain transparent and portable.
As a data intermediary recognised by ARCEP, LDS collaborates with legal and accounting professional bodies to integrate regulated professions into the broader European data infrastructure ecosystem.
The membership brings LDS's technical and legal capabilities into Gaia-X's network of organisations developing trustworthy and interoperable data spaces. Ulrich Ahle, CEO of Gaia-X, stated: "Legal Data Space brings practical expertise on the legal side of data sharing. Their work on governance, compliance, and smart contracts will be a valuable addition to the Gaia-X community."
