US rollout this year; Canadian expansion underway
Three major American carriers—AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon—have committed to delivering network APIs focused on Number Verification and SIM Swap protection through Aduna, a joint venture established last September by 13 leading telecom operators and Ericsson.
The move marks the first time the country's largest operators are jointly backing standardized, open network APIs designed to combat fraud. According to Ericsson, the initiative will provide "a trusted, carrier-grade solution for secure authentication" while reducing reliance on "costly, fragmented verification methods." Both APIs are expected to reach nationwide availability in the US during the current year.
Aduna CEO Anthony Bartolo stated: "This pivotal moment for the mobile ecosystem demonstrates not only the importance of collaboration, but also the reality of global coverage capabilities. Our strategy of redefining connectivity is unlocking faster, carrier-backed authentication at scale."
Canadian partnership accelerates global expansion
Aduna has also entered into a strategic partnership with Canada's EnStream LP, signaling a major expansion of its network API footprint into the Canadian market. EnStream operates as a joint venture among Canada's three largest carriers: Bell, Rogers and TELUS.
EnStream has already established Canada as a significant player in network API development. The organization "has been instrumental in positioning Canada as a global leader in network APIs. By leveraging mobile data across the country's largest telecom providers, EnStream has facilitated secure, frictionless authentication and fraud prevention solutions for businesses, including major financial institutions."
The partnership will see EnStream's APIs integrated into Aduna's broader platform, with the goal of driving faster worldwide adoption of telecom-backed security and verification capabilities.
