A collaboration between Nokia and VodafoneThree has resulted in the activation of 100 cutting-edge 5G radio installations across Vodafone's network in the UK. This deployment represents a continuation of the ongoing partnership aimed at constructing a comprehensive 5G Standalone infrastructure nationwide.
The telecommunications operator is committing £11 billion toward its next-generation network infrastructure, with Nokia's AirScale Radio Access Network (RAN) serving as a cornerstone technology in this expansion initiative.
The initial batch of advanced 5G radio sites went live during 2026, establishing the foundation for subsequent phases of deployment and enhanced service delivery to end users.
Iain Milligan, Network Development and Infrastructure Director at VodafoneThree, remarked: "Reaching this milestone so quickly is a testament to the expertise and commitment of the teams at VodafoneThree and Nokia. Bringing our first advanced 5G radio sites live is an important step in building the UK's best network, helping us deliver faster speeds, greater reliability and a better experience for millions of customers."
Mangesh Kulkarni, General Manager at Nokia, stated: "This milestone demonstrates Nokia's unwavering dedication to innovation and collaboration, as we work hand-in-hand with VodafoneThree to deliver transformative 5G connectivity that empowers communities and drives the UK's digital future."
