Worldline, a payments technology firm, and Lissi, a German digital identity specialist, have unveiled the Worldline Digital Identity Hub. The platform functions as a managed service that offers financial institutions a unified connection point across all European digital identity wallets—tackling a core technical hurdle introduced by eIDAS 2.0 requirements.
The partnership merges Lissi's expertise in digital identity systems and banking onboarding processes with Worldline's capabilities in payments infrastructure, fraud mitigation and authentication mechanisms.
By combining Worldline's strength in the financial sector with Lissi's pioneering work in integrating EUDI Wallets, we can form a strong offering for banks looking for a professionally managed wallet connectivity service

Interoperability becomes the opportunity
Member states across the EU must roll out official digital identity wallets by the end of 2026, with banks required to support every certified wallet by the close of 2027. Given projections of roughly 40 wallets operating across the continent, industry players increasingly view managed connectivity solutions as the most practical route for financial services firms to fulfil these obligations.
The hub connects directly to Worldline's existing Access Control Server, enabling wallet-based identity verification to leverage the company's established fraud detection capabilities. Infrastructure sits within private European data centers and receives continuous updates to align with eIDAS 2.0 standards and data sovereignty requirements.
According to the companies, the managed approach compresses deployment timelines from years down to weeks and converts capital-intensive upfront costs into recurring operational expenses. The platform has undergone testing through EU Large-Scale Pilots and is currently bringing on its initial banking customers.
First-mover institutions receive entry to EUDIW sandbox settings, permitting them to validate customer workflows in advance of the 2027 compliance window.
Lissi secured 3.5 million euros (roughly US$4 million) in funding this summer to scale its EUDI Wallet Connector Suite and SDK following its victory in Germany's EUDI Wallet Challenge in 2025. The Worldline collaboration signals intensifying competition to establish itself as the connectivity backbone linking banks to Europe's emerging digital identity wallet infrastructure.
