Lexroom, an AI operating system designed for legal professionals, has completed the acquisition of Praven Intelekt, a Bulgarian legal technology company that developed one of the country's first specialised AI tools for the legal sector. The transaction provides Lexroom with its initial presence in Central and Eastern Europe and brings access to a legal AI assistant already serving more than 900 clients throughout Bulgaria, ranging from individual practitioners to local government bodies and corporate compliance departments.

The Milan-founded Italian scaleup now operates across more than 20,000 customer accounts, maintains a workforce exceeding 200 staff members and has constructed its technology foundation using more than 13 million legal sources. This Bulgarian transaction represents Lexroom's second disclosed acquisition during the third quarter of 2026, following its purchase of Query Juriste, a French legal AI company. The combined deals extend Lexroom's operational footprint to five European markets.

Praven Intelekt was established in Sofia in 2025 by Siyanna Lilova, Rangel Milushev and Christian Tsanov. Within roughly one year of launch, the five-person team created one of Bulgaria's initial specialised AI platforms for legal professionals, encompassing legal research capabilities, document analysis and document generation functionality.

The platform has attracted more than 19,000 registered users since its inception, with approximately 1,500 professionals engaging with it on a weekly basis. This expansion, accomplished with minimal staffing, typically draws attention from larger European-scale acquirers seeking growth opportunities.

Why local data beats translation

Praven Intelekt's foundation rests on a database containing nearly 1.2 million legal documents sourced from 18 official Bulgarian and European repositories, encompassing legislation, judicial decisions, EU law and regulatory determinations. The system anchors its outputs to these official materials and traces each response back to its source documents, enabling professionals to independently verify the information provided.

We built Praven Intelekt because we wanted to bring a world-class solution to the legal market in Bulgaria. Legal professionals needed AI built around the realities of local law, rather than a generic tool.

Siyanna Lilova, co-founder and CEO of Praven Intelekt

This approach prioritises verifiability over convenience, reflecting a strategic conviction that legal practitioners will only embrace AI systems they can thoroughly examine—a philosophy that mirrors Lexroom's own market positioning.

For Lexroom, the Praven Intelekt acquisition functions as a strategic market entry rather than merely a product purchase, according to Paolo Fois, co-founder and CEO of Lexroom:

Praven Intelekt stood out because of the quality of its team, the traction it achieved in a very short period of time and the depth of the product it built specifically for Bulgarian legal professionals.

Paolo Fois, co-founder and CEO of Lexroom

Fois characterised the transaction around a fundamental principle regarding how legal AI expands across different jurisdictions:

Legal AI cannot be scaled across Europe simply by translating the same product into different languages. Every market requires local legal data, knowledge of the jurisdiction and an understanding of how professionals actually work. Praven Intelekt has already built that foundation in Bulgaria. By combining it with Lexroom's technology, resources and scale, Bulgaria can become the starting point for a much broader presence across Central and Eastern Europe.

What acquisition brings for both sides?

Lexroom enters this transaction from a position of considerable strength. The company currently serves more than 20,000 customers and has built its platform on more than 13 million legal sources. During summer 2026, it surpassed €20 million in Annual Recurring Revenue. This performance rests on a $73 million funding base: a $50 million Series B closed in May 2026, led by Left Lane Capital alongside Base10 Partners, Eurazeo, Acurio Ventures, Entourage and View Different, which arrived eight months following a $19 million Series A.

For Lexroom, this acquisition follows earlier market entries into Germany and Spain and marks the company's first M&A transaction since its establishment in Milan in 2023.

Praven Intelekt's technology, legal datasets and regional knowledge will be progressively incorporated into Lexroom's unified platform. Current users will maintain access to the product's existing features, which Lexroom intends to enhance with new capabilities over time.

The longer-term objective involves consolidating legal research, document drafting, document analysis and comprehensive professional workflows into a single integrated system, beginning with Europe's Civil Law jurisdictions, of which Bulgaria now represents the newest and, from a strategic perspective, the most eastward-oriented addition to Lexroom's portfolio.

The entire founding team is transitioning to Lexroom. Siyanna Lilova assumes the position of Head of Central and Eastern Europe at Lexroom, with responsibility for driving the company's expansion throughout the region.

Joining Lexroom allows us to preserve that local depth while operating at a completely different scale. Bulgaria can now become the starting point for bringing the same approach to legal professionals across Central and Eastern Europe.

Siyanna Lilova

With Bulgaria now established as its Central and Eastern European entry point, Lexroom possesses local legal data, an experienced team and an established user base spanning four European markets. The Praven Intelekt acquisition demonstrates that the company intends to expand through jurisdiction-specific depth rather than superficial language adaptation. If this strategy proves effective, Central and Eastern Europe's diverse legal markets could emerge as a significant component of the continent's legal AI landscape.

For Bulgaria's technology sector, this transaction ranks among the season's most consequential M&A activities.
