Aerodynamic and structural development of modular bicycles using LUMI

Gram, the bicycle brand operated by Advanced Engineering, specializes in high-performance machines for road racing and triathlon disciplines. The company is developing a modular platform capable of switching between road bike and triathlon bike configurations through straightforward component swaps.

Historically, the firm's engineering workflow depended on iterative prototyping and constrained computational resources, stretching design phases to roughly twelve months. The business required substantially faster and more capable development pathways.

According to Alexandros Kitselis, Gram's chief executive, "Traditional design methods could not provide the speed and flexibility required to remain competitive. A new approach was needed to accelerate development while improving aerodynamic and structural performance."

Seeking a solution, Gram partnered with FFplus to tap into LUMI's computational infrastructure. This collaboration enabled the company to compress design timelines, enhance aerodynamic efficiency, refine mass-to-stiffness ratios, and ultimately produce bicycles with superior performance characteristics at more competitive price points.
