Virgin Media O2 has begun offering 5G Standalone (5G SA) services in Bristol under the brand name 5G+. The network is now live across the city centre, Harbourside, surrounding areas and Avonmouth, with O2 customers holding compatible devices and eligible plans able to use it without paying extra.

The deployment aims to deliver improved network performance through faster data speeds, enhanced reliability and reduced latency when using mobile services on the 5G infrastructure.

This Bristol expansion forms part of Virgin Media O2's broader £700 million Mobile Transformation Plan, which is driving network improvements across the United Kingdom through 2026. The investment encompasses installation of new transmission infrastructure and small cells, modernisation of both 4G and 5G networks, deployment of additional spectrum capacity and implementation of automation technologies to optimise network operations.

Reliable connectivity is increasingly essential to how people live, work and do business, which is why we're continuing to invest in strengthening our network in the city. This rollout is part of our £700 million Mobile Transformation Plan and brings 5G+ to more customers across Bristol. With faster speeds, lower latency and improved reliability, the upgrade will deliver high-quality coverage that helps our customers stay connected when it matters most.
