Telxius is modernising its international backbone by deploying Nokia's 800G optical technology, aiming to meet rising demand from cloud services, artificial intelligence and data centre operations. The Spanish operator is installing Nokia's ICE-X 800G ZR and ZR+ coherent pluggable optics on its terrestrial infrastructure spanning Europe, North America and Latin America.

The upgrade enables Telxius to expand network bandwidth on existing routes while reducing physical footprint and energy consumption. The deployment is also designed to lower operational costs and simplify the engineering of future capacity additions.
