Submer has established Corenix, a dedicated subsidiary tasked with manufacturing modular data centre infrastructure tailored for artificial intelligence workloads. The venture will partner with hyperscalers, neoclouds and AI operators to engineer and supply data centre platforms centred on Nvidia reference designs.

Corenix's operating model involves fabricating and validating complete data centre modules within factory settings before transportation to deployment locations. Each module incorporates the essential components required for AI operations: computing hardware, electrical systems, thermal management and communications infrastructure.

Upon arrival at customer sites, Corenix assumes responsibility for module installation, integration with existing infrastructure, comprehensive testing and final commissioning to ensure operational readiness.

The company has recruited Martin Renkis as chief executive. Renkis previously held senior leadership roles at Johnson Controls, including General Manager of Global Products, VP of Technology Global Products and most recently Executive Director of Data Centre Infrastructure. Earlier in his career, he founded Smartvue, an IoT hardware and software venture that Johnson Controls subsequently acquired.

Corenix joins two existing entities within the Submer Group: Rubix Data Centres, which develops and operates AI data centre campuses, and Radian Arc, which delivers GPU-as-a-Service and AI-as-a-Service offerings.

Patrick Smets, chief executive of Submer Group, stated: "AI factories are driving unprecedented demand for new data centre capacity, and the market needs a faster, more predictable way to build it. Corenix builds on Submer's history in modular data centre delivery and the engineering, thermal, and infrastructure expertise we have developed solving high-density compute challenges for years. We are bringing that experience into a dedicated business built to deliver AI infrastructure at scale."

Renkis elaborated on the company's approach: "Customers need clarity before they commit: what needs to be built, how it will be tested, who is accountable, and when it will become operational. That's the foundation I'm building Corenix on from day one. Corenix puts a dated program and a go-live date on the table before a contract exists. One team stays accountable from factory integration and testing through on-site commissioning and operational readiness, with the same team offering the flexibility to support current and future accelerated computing systems."
