Satellite operator SES and Elveo Mobile have deepened their partnership to roll out direct-to-device (D2D) satellite connectivity across Europe. The expanded collaboration aims to deliver mobile services to consumers, commercial entities, government agencies, and defence organisations across the continent.
Under the arrangement, SES will leverage Elveo's D2D technology to offer satellite-based mobile connectivity, enabling devices to maintain connections in remote and underserved regions. The partnership also encompasses plans to establish satellite production facilities and supply chain infrastructure within Europe dedicated to LEO D2D satellites.
The LEO satellites will incorporate Elveo's proprietary satellite bus, payload and software architecture. These low-Earth orbit assets will integrate into a broader multi-orbit constellation, operating in tandem with SES's existing geostationary and medium-Earth orbit satellite fleet.
European clients will gain access to Elveo's D2D services through SES's established worldwide distribution channels, expanding the reach of the service offering.
