Nvidia and Nokia have deepened their working relationship by jointly building a sovereign agentic AI platform designed to enable telecom operators to streamline network operations while retaining authority over their data and infrastructure.
The offering combines Nvidia AI Enterprise software, Nemotron models and associated libraries with Nokia's telecommunications expertise to allow operators to construct and operate AI agents that span radio, core, transport and cloud network layers.
The AI agents will function by observing network behaviour, spotting issues and executing corrective measures to boost performance, thereby cutting down on hands-on management requirements.
Nokia has designed the system with oversight mechanisms that permit operators to review the reasoning and actions taken by AI agents. The platform accommodates on-premises, cloud and hybrid configurations, ensuring operators maintain ownership of where their operational data, models and policies reside.
Telecom firms including etisalat UAE (formerly e&), MEO and Airtel are currently collaborating with Nokia to assess how the technology could be deployed.
Nokia Chief Technology and AI Officer Pallavi Mahajan stated: "The next era of connectivity will be defined by networks that do far more than connect: They will distribute intelligence, continuously optimize performance and enable entirely new AI-powered services, including the emerging world of physical AI. Together with Nvidia and leading operators, Nokia is turning this vision into reality by bringing AI into the radio network and across network operations. This creates a trusted, software-defined foundation that helps operators get more from their spectrum today while enabling new Physical AI use cases and opening a practical path toward increasingly autonomous, AI-native 6G networks."
Ronnie Vasishta, Senior Vice President of Telecom at Nvidia, remarked: "The next generation of telecommunications infrastructure will be built on a software-defined architecture. Nvidia and Nokia are combining CUDA accelerated computing and AI with Nokia's network software and expertise to improve radio performance and deploy trusted AI agents. Together, we are advancing software-defined, AI-native 5G and laying the foundation for 6G."
This expansion follows on from the companies' existing AI-RAN partnership, which is presently undergoing trials with operators such as Elisa, Deutsche Telekom, BT and Orange.
