Eurofiber has rolled out data centre connectivity offerings throughout Germany, establishing links among facilities in Berlin, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Munich, and Stuttgart via its fibre backbone. The initiative leverages infrastructure controlled by NGN Fiber Network, in which Eurofiber maintains a stake, to deliver Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) services spanning the six metropolitan areas.

The new connectivity enables organisations to transfer substantial data volumes between data centres with speed and dependability. Eurofiber positions the service as meeting requirements for cloud infrastructure, artificial intelligence applications, data preservation and business continuity scenarios.

The German market expansion responds to intensifying competition for data centre interconnection as enterprises and cloud operators scale their use of regional facilities. Arian de Korte, International Program Director at Eurofiber, noted that operators are increasingly positioning data centres regionally to reduce latency, strengthen governance over information assets and bolster operational resilience.

In Germany, enterprises, cloud service providers and international network providers are increasingly using regional data centres to bring data and applications closer to their operations and users, maintain greater control over their data and strengthen their digital resilience. This supports their digital sovereignty and increases the need for reliable interconnection between these facilities.

Andrea Kraus, Chief Commercial Officer at Eurofiber, underscored that the quality of interconnection between regional data centres has become a critical factor in their utility for customers seeking to deploy cloud and AI workloads.

For customers, the value of regional data centres depends increasingly on how well those locations are connected. They need the flexibility to scale capacity, move data quickly and build resilience across their digital infrastructure. By expanding our data centre connectivity services in Germany, we give organisations a stronger foundation for cloud, AI and other data-intensive applications.
