DE-CIX and Cabo Verde Telecom (CVTelecom) have committed to exploring a fresh South Atlantic interconnection pathway connecting Lisbon with São Paulo through a Letter of Intent. The corridor would enable networks spanning Europe, West Africa and Latin America to transmit data along a more direct path.
By establishing this route, traffic would no longer need to traverse the conventional gateways concentrated in Northern Europe and North America, according to DE-CIX. The shift promises to enhance reliability and performance across international data exchanges.
How the partnership works
CVTelecom will furnish the transport infrastructure required to link the two cities. DE-CIX, in turn, will grant access to its interconnection platform across Europe and the Americas.
The arrangement grants CVTelecom entry to DE-CIX's facilities in Frankfurt, Madrid, Marseille, New York and São Paulo. DE-CIX receives reciprocal access to dedicated transport capacity running between Lisbon and São Paulo.
